From DJ Ak-47 to Executive Producer, there isnt anything that multi-platnium selling artist Alicia Keys can’t do.  On Wednesday night, Keys along with husband Swizz Beatz in hand celebrated the opening night of the play “Stick Fly”  at the Cort Theater in Manhattan, NY.

Written by Lydia Diamond and Atlanta’s own Kenny Leon, the play centers around racism, multiple layers of class, sexism and family secrets.

“There’s a door for almost everyone to enter into the discussion of this play. It really is about family, it really is about class, and it really is funny … and heartbreaking. A lot of plays by African-American writers deal with social injustice, deal with the class struggles that are faced by lower-class Americans. In the African-American community, we … try to explain the way life is through our plays. And I think with this particular play, you have Lydia talking about a different class of African-Americans, and we don’t hear the voice of that upper-class a lot. For me, it was exciting because it helps you understand another kind of diversity,” said Leon in a recent interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
